ECO PRINTS
CYANOTYPES
Confluence Series
Cyanotypes
Size 60cm x 60cm
I live and work overlooking the sea. I create work inspired by it’s beauty in a bid to express the fragility of the underwater ecosystem, which is sadly in danger due to pollution, and rising temperatures.
In my Confluence Series I used the cyanotype process which an early form of camera-less photography. I painted light sensitive chemicals onto paper that is then exposed to the sun with a hand painted and photographic transparency on the surface. My techniques are very experimental.

Cyanotype Suffragettes
This Cyanotype Suffragette collection explores themes of gender, memory and identity I am interested in political rebellion, historical social structures and roles of women, particularly in the Victorian era.
My studio is on the site of a Suffragette Shop in St Leonards on Sea. East Sussex Currently I make portraits of the revolutionaries and of the extraordinary people that live or once lived on the coast.
How do you harness the sun to make images
Using the cyanotype process, an early form of camera-less photography. I painted light sensitive chemicals onto paper and onto canvases which are then exposed to the sun with a transparency on the surface. The cyanotype process uses a mixture of iron compounds, which when exposed to UV light and washed in water oxidise to create Prussian Blue images.
Please join me in a workshop where I can show you how to do my interesting painterly and eco version of this process.

Tetra prints
What is Tetra Pack Etching
I use a very unusual eco drypoint etching technique using discarded tetra pack drinks cartons and house hold materials. Although the final printed results are incredibly similar to the traditional etching processes.
The traditional etching process seriously damages the environment and artist’s health because of the hydrochloric acid involved.
