Louise Whitham About
Louise is an award winning Artist who exhibits in London and Hastings Her Suffragette protest work ‘Face to The Dawn’ print was shown at the Hastings Contemporary. Her 7 room retrospective at ‘Hastings Temporary’ included a pin hole camera room and her performance art work ‘Wave’ was highly commended by PhotoHastings. She was awarded the De La Warr Pavilion Studio Prize for her St Leonards mixed media Sea Shelter work and won the Trash Cann=e Film Festival 2025 with her short video called The Pothole. This 3 minute revals many of the playful and highly experimental techniques she had devised to engage her many late teens Art students at the University of the Arts London and at Hastings Art School
She is founder of the Polaroid No collection of Portraits Each collection revolves around an aspect of social history allowing the theme to lead. Her No Photobook will be available in April 2025
Her long career as an A level art lecturer in painting, photography, graphics and textiles is to responsible she says for her energetic work ethos and her accumulating such an diverse arsenal of effects in her tool box which is key to her passion for experimental photography.
She is currently the Curator of Barnaby’s Lounge Gallery s 46 Robertson Street. Hastings… and working towards a Manifesto with like minded artists.
